Al-Humaza has nine verses and reads in two movements. The first three draw a portrait: someone who runs others down, who gathers property and counts it over, and who takes that property for what will make him last. The fourth overturns the sentence with one word and announces where this man will be thrown. The fifth asks about the name of that place, a turn of phrase surah Al-Qaari'a uses twice. The last four verses answer by describing a fire: what it reaches, how it closes, in what shape. The text ends on that description, without returning to the opening portrait.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ وَيْلٌۭ لِّكُلِّ هُمَزَةٍۢ لُّمَزَةٍ
Woe to every scorner and mocker
ٱلَّذِى جَمَعَ مَالًۭا وَعَدَّدَهُۥ
Who collects wealth and [continuously] counts it.
يَحْسَبُ أَنَّ مَالَهُۥٓ أَخْلَدَهُۥ
He thinks that his wealth will make him immortal.
كَلَّا ۖ لَيُنۢبَذَنَّ فِى ٱلْحُطَمَةِ
No! He will surely be thrown into the Crusher.
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْحُطَمَةُ
And what can make you know what is the Crusher?
نَارُ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُوقَدَةُ
It is the fire of Allah, [eternally] fueled,
ٱلَّتِى تَطَّلِعُ عَلَى ٱلْأَفْـِٔدَةِ
Which mounts directed at the hearts.
إِنَّهَا عَلَيْهِم مُّؤْصَدَةٌۭ
Indeed, Hellfire will be closed down upon them
فِى عَمَدٍۢ مُّمَدَّدَةٍۭ

What is surah Al-Humaza about?
Of a man designated by what he does: he belittles, hoards, counts over, and relies on his property to last. The text then moves to what awaits him, named in a word then described. It names no one: the man exists here only through his acts.
How is surah Al-Humaza built?
In two blocks separated by a question. Three verses for the portrait, one verse that tips over, the question in the fifth, then four verses of description. All nine verses end on the same rhyme, which holds the whole together.
What does surah Al-Humaza say about wealth?
Verses 2 and 3 name it twice. The first says it is gathered then gone over; the second gives what its holder expects from it, that it make him last. Neither its source nor its amount is stated.
How does surah Al-Humaza end?
With four verses of description. The sixth names what is meant, the seventh says how far it rises, the last two say how it closes and in what shape. The surah stops on that final image, with no conclusion added.
Why is surah Al-Humaza called that?
“Al-Humaza” names the one who runs others down. The name comes from the first verse, where the word forms a pair with a second of close meaning, aimed at the one who sneers. The surah takes up the first of the two; neither reappears afterwards.
